High number of seniors leaves University of California, Santa Cruz psychology department scrambling

Over crowded classes seem to be the story at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Students can no longer just sign up for a class and expect it to be there for them. Registration seems to be a very stressful time at UCSC.

UC Santa Cruz psychology student Crystal Faith Cajilog took off work Feb. 28 to make sure she arrived in time to get a coveted permission code to enroll in a senior seminar required to graduate.

She walked into the office at 11 a.m. for the 1:30 p.m. release of 75 available spots, only to find 110 students in front of her, some of whom queued at 6 a.m.

In all, 95 students, after waiting for hours in the psychology department hallways, were left without a seat that day.
