The Chicago School of Professional Psychology Holds Virtual Open Houses

July 22, 2011: Individuals researching online master's programs in psychology can now attend convenient, comprehensive open houses at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. The School is offering prospective students the opportunity to learn more about the institution, the curriculums of the programs, and how online learning works by attending one or both of two upcoming Virtual Open Houses. Prospective students will hear from the admissions team and can ask questions about the Master of Arts in Applied Industrial-Organizational Psychology or the Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology: Applied Forensic Services.

The agenda for each Virtual Open House includes an overview of The Chicago School, a discussion of the coursework and subject matter involved in the program, potential career applications, a preview of the online learning environment, and a question-and-answer session. Nebraska University Awards 8 Presidential Graduate Fellowships

University of Nebraska has stepped up and is helping graduate students with fellowships. Learn which students were offered these grants.

The University of Nebraska has awarded eight prestigious fellowships to students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska at Omaha and University of Nebraska Medical Center.

The NU Foundation provides $12,000-$24,000 stipends to each of the eight students who won the Presidential Graduate Fellowships based on high scholastic performance, personal accomplishment and innovative research.

The fellowships will allow the recipients to pursue their education full time. This year's fellows are:

Bernard Luskin will receive APA Media Psychology Division life achievement recognition for contributions to Media Psychology at a convention reception in Washington, D.C., on August 5, 2011," announced Dr. David Shapiro, Chair of the Awar

ds Committee and former Division President.

"Bernie Luskin has been active in Media Psychology for most of his professional career," said Rachel Bishar, the first Ph.D. recipient from the first university doctoral program in Media Psychology.  In 2002, we launched this first university Ph.D. program enrolling what we called, "The Magnificent Seven," i.e., the seven beginning MA, Ph.D. Students who pioneered this important unique new graduate program in Media Psychology," said Bishar.

"The master's degree, EdD and Ph.D. programs we began at Fielding were triggered by the 1998 APA Media Psychology Division Task Force report entitled Psychology and New Technologies, chaired by Lilli Friedland and me. The findings identified emerging professional areas of work where media psychology is emerging," Luskin explained.

The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP) has awarded Chiara Viscomi, a graduate of the Masters in Counseling Psychology program, the Jill Mellick Award for Excellence in Creative Expression. The award is given to graduating students who embody the spirit and intent of Creative Expression as a path toward wisdom, health, and wholeness.

The award acknowledges and honors Dr. Jill Mellick who established the Creative Expression specialization in the Counseling Program at ITP and was instrumental in developing the school's foundational curriculum to include the arts and creative expression as one of the six pillars of an ITP education.
